Richard Challen wrote for a variety of music publications in the late '90s and early 2000s, including OPTION, The Performing Songwriter, and Goldmine. As the publishing industry collapsed, he read the writing on the wall and ended his professional career in music journalism. Since then, he's dabbled in the occasional blog, primarily for his own amusement. This is definitely a labor of love, so critique accordingly.

As a child of the Eighties, Challen spent his formative years obsessed with pop music. He first discovered the syndicated radio program American Top 40 during the week ending September 3, 1983. "Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This)" was the #1 song. He didn't miss a single episode for the next seven years. Wherever you are, Casey Kasem... This site is dedicated to you.
